Now try this on for size: according to an interview with Kotaku, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe revealed Zelda‘s malinged joke character in Tingle nearly starred in a horror game! Hardly any details were dropped on the cancelled title — the interview was largely Dillion’s Rolling Western-focused, and it was only brought up since Dillion’s developer, Vanpool, had made the previous two Tingle spin-offs: Freshly Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland and Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love.
The only two factoids were vague: the game was approximately in development eight years ago, and was cancelled “for a variety of reasons.” How, exactly, Tingle’s masculine sexiness could’ve possibly been translated into a horror game eludes us, but rest assured that even if it was completed, it would’ve never come out in America. Still, if you still want your Tingle fix, there’s nothing stopping you from purchasing a region-free copy of Rosy Rupeeland, tracking down the Balloon Trip of Love fan translation, and plowing through enemy hordes as Tingle in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.
