Koei Tecmo Confirms Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the World Western Release

A new kind of Atelier game is on its way!

Gust Studio’s iconic Atelier series has officially been around for over two decades now, and they’re celebrating the big 2-0 in the best way that they know how; with an all-new crossover Atelier game!

Titled Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World, Gust’s upcoming game will be a celebration of all things Atelier, and will be presenting a new style of play as well. Rather than taking on the role of an aspiring alchemist-to-be, players will instead be stepping into the shoes of Nelke — a young noblewoman fascinated by the legend of the Sage of Granzweit, which states that those who find the Granzweit Tree will be given great power.

One day Nelke overhears a rumor that the Granzweit Tree can be found within the lands owned by her father, near the quaint village of Westwald. Nelke’s father gives her permission to search for the tree, but with one major caveat —  she must become the governess of the area, and develop Westwald into a prosperous city.

As you might have guessed based on the story’s description, Nelke won’t be your typical Atelier game. Rather than focusing on alchemy, players will instead be tasked with developing city of Westwald itself which, as it becomes more developed, will attract a variety of familiar-looking alchemists from the IrisArlandDusk, and Mysterious trilogies, the Mana Khemia duology, and more.

Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World is slated to release in the West on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. No current release date has been set as of now. Are you looking forward to celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Atelier series in style? What do you think Nelke‘s gameplay will be like? Let us know in the comments below!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
