Square Enix Cooks Up a New Kingdom Hearts 3 Trailer

Square Enix closes their conference with our first looks at Ratatouille and Kairi’s new design

Square Enix Closed off its E3 event with a Kingdom Hearts 3 Trailer. The trailer itself was mostly a repeat of the trailer released with the Microsoft Press Conference yesterday. However a few new scenes were added that were not present in Yesterday’s trailer. Three in particular are worth noting.

The first of which is a brief scene of Sora cooking up a meal in a kitchen with a familiar rat pulling his hair. This is our first albeit brief look at gameplay from the previously announced Ratatouille world.

Then later in the trailer there’s a part where The character of Roxas, Sora’s nobody comes up. It’s mentioned here that a copy of Roxas’ data from his time in the virtual Twilight Town from the start of Kingdom Hearts 2 exists. This data containing his memories and personality might just be how the popular character returns in the events of the third game.

The last new scene worth looking at is the trailer’s final scene where the characters of Lea and Kairi are sitting on a stump, backs to the camera looking at the sunset. While we don’t get to see her face in this scene this marks the first time we have seen Kairi in her new Kingdom Hearts 3 design, which was previously seen as a costume in the Kingdom Hearts X mobile game and hints that her and Lea will be sharing screentime in the game, possibly as they learn to use their own.

Yesterday Square Enix revealed that Frozen would be featured in the game and confirmed a January 29th 2019 release date.
