Rage Against The Bethesda Machine
The official Rage Twitter account went into a brief frenzy yesterday after the Walmart Canada website listed Rage 2, a would-be sequel to id Software’s last-gen shooter.
Walmart Canada created their own wave of video game gossip following the listing of many unannounced titles. Among them include Rage 2, Just Cause 4 and the dubiously-titled Forza Horizons 5. Dubious of course because this would mean no Forza 4. Derp.
Are Walmart trying to spoil marketing plans for publishers the world over, in the build up to E3? Who knows. Quite possibly. A few of the other titles listed, particularly Assassins Creed and Borderlands, indeed have sequels in the works, so these listings may be inevitable anyway. Whatever the case may or may not be, Bethesda decided to have a bit of fun with this “reveal”. The Twitter account for Rage was without a single tweet to it’s name. That is until yesterday, when it was resurrected and decided to poke fun at the mega retailer.

Rage, for those that don’t know, was a post-apocalyptic shooter from id Software. It also served as the final game released by id under the supervision of founder John Carmack, who later left to join Oculus.
Could Rage 2 be real? We all know anything can happen at E3. Publisher Bethesda is set to host an E3 press conference on Sunday, 10th June in LA. Then we’ll know for sure. Now excuse me, i’m off to pre-order Forza Horizons 5.
