Did someone say Half-Life 3?
The team behind community-led Half Life 2: Epistle 3 released their third update today. It features a first look at in-game footage, as well as confirming their writing team has finished their first draft of the games story. In addition, the update also includes new concept art for enemies such as the Combine Elite and houndeye. The update also features a brand-new musical compilation.
Project Borealis is the brainchild of over 60 Half-Life fans from all over the world. The group was formed after Marc Laidlaw, a former employee of Half Life creator Valve, leaked a script of Half-Life 2: Episode 3 in August 2017. Half-Life 2: Epistle 3 is being built using Unreal Engine 4, which they intend to adapt to feel like the Source engine used in Half-Life 2 and its episodic sequels.
Project Borealis Project Manager, Michael Dunaway commented: “Update 3 represents a sizable step forward in our team’s ongoing efforts to bring Marc Laidlaw’s story to life.”
He added: “we are proud of our team’s steady progress and can’t wait to see the community’s reactions to our efforts showcased in this update”
The team are also seeking additional members of staff to join the project, which is always a good sign that a project is going well.
Being a huge fan of the Half-Life series, I’m pleased they’ve taken it upon themselves to finish off the story of Half-Life 2 – although, I still don’t think it’ll put to bed the rumours of Half-Life 3, much to the disappointment of the Gabe Newell and folks over at Valve!
