Switch version surpasses Wii U by almost 100k copies
Nintendo’s Financial Results Briefing for Fiscal Year Ended March 2018 has finally been released, and, if sales are anything to go by, it appears as though everyone’s favorite hair-wearing, gun-slinging witch is doing better than ever on the Nintendo Switch.
According to the graph provided by Nintendo, Bayonetta 2 has sold a little under 400k copies (although concrete sales numbers aren’t available) on the Nintendo Switch across Japan, the United States, and Europe combined since its release in February, while its Wii U counterpart only sold a little under 300k copies within the same time period. That’s especially impressive, considering that this is a re-release of a game that came out all the way back in 2014.
“This graph shows the total sell-through of Bayonetta 2 immediately after its February release for Nintendo Switch, compared to the sell-through for the same period of time following its 2014 release for Wii U,” said Nintendo during their report. “The Nintendo Switch version of this title quickly surged past the original Wii U version.”
The Nintendo Switch has worked financial wonders for the video game giant already, and most definitely appears as though the same can be said for Bayonetta.
