It’s speculation time again, folks: as seen on Japanese Nintendo, four new trademarks have been filed for Punch-Out!!, Paper Mario, Dr. Mario and Mario Party. While full translations haven’t been provided, the most important information is how they’re all for use of “video game program” and “downloadable video game program.” If anything, these should be strong indicators of these series’ future. Perhaps we’ll see more information at E3?
However, Punch-Out!! is particularly noteworthy when considering a recent observation; that being, the official site for the Wii iteration of Punch-Out!! was just taken down. When considering this new information, a stronger case for the first Punch-Out!! in nine years is evident. At the very least, it seems like it’d be a good fit for the Switch Joy-Cons, yeah?
Do you think these Nintendo trademarks will amount to anything? Let us know in the comments below!
