Conquer the wasteland in Death Road to Canada
Indie publisher UKIYO Publishing, in collaboration with Rocketcat Games and Madgarden, has announced that Death Road to Canada will be available on April 24. It will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This is a procedurally generated game that takes you from Florida to Ontario, Canada in the midst of the apocalypse. Loot the randomized maps by yourself or with a friend via local co-op to kill shambling hordes of zombies. Although there is plenty of carnage, UKIYO promises a strong narrative thread that uses interactive fiction to give you plenty of flexibility in your play style and your particular goals. This allows you to make or break friendships with your companions, leading to possibly one of the most important features in a video game.
According to Rocketcat, Death Road to Canada has, “[m]ore dogs than the Fable series or that one Call of Duty with the dog in it.” Sounds great, right? But what will you do with all those dogs? Here’s what: “Find a dog, teach it to drive. Have all the humans in your party die. Make the dog recruit other dogs until your band of survivors consists of 4 dogs driving a muscle car.” Of course, if humans are your jam, that’s your prerogative. The game has lots of replay value due to the randomization so no judgment if you go with people over driving dogs, but we’re just saying it’s an option available to you. Survivors do have to watch their watch their morale–they’re in a zombie apocalypse, after all–and that seems like a great mechanic that provides lots of challenge. However, what better morale booster than four dogs?
