Animal Crossing Site’s Chaotic Update May Imply New Game

Been starving for deets on the next Animal Crossing? A bizarre turn of events may be the next best thing: as of last night, the official Animal Crossing website has undergone indecipherable renovations, with multiple sections being plastered with placeholder text, Latin dialogue, and yes, even a brief summary of Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis. You can explore the site for yourself, but just in case, we’ve provided relevant screenshots below.

To provide a full summary, all the news pieces have been replaced by The Metamorphosis summaries, the videos by the Switch Presentation trailer for Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the About section is down. While the Home section is largely intact, the links to the 3DS and Wii U section have been deleted, instead directing users to their relevant Nintendo Game Store sections.

An analysis by Leak Review reveals much of the strange text are internal placeholders meant to form a visual document before the input of actual information. While we highly doubt an Animal Crossing/Franz Kafka crossover is in the works, all signs point to an accidental leak of Nintendo preparing to unveil the next Animal Crossing. The inevitable Switch game may indeed be coming this year…
