Final weeks dedicated to “finishing touches”
Those eagerly awaiting the release of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire might have to wait just a little bit while longer, as developer Obsidian Entertainment has announced that the game’s release will be undergoing a slight delay.
Originally slated for release on April 3 for PC (which, as of the publishing of this article, is still the release date shown on Steam), Obsidian has stated that fans can now expect the upcoming RPG to release on May 8. Specific details have yet to be released explaining the decision behind this, but Obsidian states that it’s so that they can “polish and put those finishing touches on the game.” Obsidian has also thanked those playing the Backer Beta for their input, suggesting that feedback obtained during that time will help in further shaping the game before its release.
Although having to wait longer than expected for a game to release is never any fun, a month, all-in-all, isn’t really too bad. And, if Obsidian truly is using that extra time to make the game even better, then maybe it’s for the best. Were you able to play Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire during its Backer Beta phase? Are you looking forward to its official release? What do you think about the extra month-long wait? Let us know in the comments below!
