Diablo 3 on Switch isn’t as farfetched as Blizzard will have you believe
It’s been a pretty funny week for Blizzard and Diablo 3 fans alike. On one hand the rumor that Diablo 3 was being ported to the Nintendo Switch was immediately squashed by Blizzard via a statement to Polygon, but on the other it’s now come out through Eurogamer’s sources that Blizzard were totally trolling us all and Diablo 3 is in works to be ported onto the Switch.
You’d be forgiven for being confused on what the actual hell is going on. I’m still trying to get to grips with whether one of my favorite games is going to be on Switch or not, so this whole ring-around-the-hell-roses has been no help at all.
But what started all this off was this simple tweet from Blizzard:

As one would after seeing something as blatant as this, many journalists got busy to speculate that maybe Diablo 3 was coming to the Switch. You know the rest of the story, but this is where things start to get interesting…
Eurogamer’s source did indeed state that “Diablo 3 is in production”, though they did not say anything about including the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansion packs. It would seem silly not to, but with Blizzard being so quiet on their plans it’s hard to tell when we’ll get real confirmation on Diablo for Switch in the first place.
As a matter of fact, when asked about their original statement Blizzard simply stated that they had nothing to add. Playing the tough guy, eh Blizzard? Well don’t worry, we’ll hear the truth. Eventually.
Until then keep your eyes to Hey Poor Player and maybe let us know what you think!
