The halcyon days of free Nintendo online gaming will soon be over, as Switch’s paid online service will finally be arriving this September. Details are promised to arrive later within the year, as well what’s teased as “very attractive programs and content”.
As stated on the official page — which has been updated to reflect this announcement — a full subscription will cost $20 a year, and this service will include downloadable classic titles with enhanced online play, such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, and Dr. Mario. Sadly, it still seems like the bizarre mobile phone set-up for voice chat and invites is still in effect, but hopefully something more streamlined will come into play.
Regardless, do you think Nintendo’s going in the right direction with a Switch paid online subscription? Let us know in the comments below!
