The Postal games are the very epitome of “psychotic”. Going out of their way to be offensive, they manage to include a level of violence and tastelessness that will make your grandma shake her head in disgust. Gameplay-wise, there’s not a lot to say as the whole affair is a shamelessly shallow exploitation. This is especially true since the first and second games are quite different mechanically and trade offensiveness for gameplay. Nonetheless, many gamers with a slightly twisted sense of humor have found the series to be rather endearing. Though to be honest, a lot of the more edgy aspects of the humor have lost their impact decades later.
Although various white supremacist mods and games have appeared throughout the years, this is perhaps one of the earliest and most well-known efforts, even obtaining a small measure of mainsteam recognition. Published by a record label notorious for releasing racist rock music, Ethnic Cleansing has players don the persona of a neo-Nazi or a Klansman as they go around murdering caricatures of various ethnic minorities. As expected, all stereotypes are present and played to the point of absurdity. Besides the deliberately offensive material, it’s a rather short and boring affair with ugly graphics, especially for a game released in 2002. Urgh.
