Remember those Tingle spin-offs on DS that never saw release in America? While Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupee Land was localized for European territories, 2009 sequel Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love never released outside of Japan, but that hasn’t stopped fan translators from allowing Western audiences to enjoy it! After five years of work, Team Tingle has released an unofficial translation patch for this wacky The Legend of Zelda spin-off, although we’ll let readers find the other necessary, uh, “materials” on their own.
Starring everyone’s favorite 35-year-old fairy imposter from The Legend of Zelda, a middle-aged single man is sucked into the “Ripened Valiant Heroes Balloon Trip of Love” picture book, transforming into the infamous fairy in the process. To escape, he must romance five different girls via gifts and Rupee-collecting, all the while recruiting the help of a familiar ensemble: a scarecrow, a lion, and a tin man. It’s only after his romantic conquests may he dance with the book world’s princess, which is the only way out.
Alongside Tingle’s Balloon Fight DS and Too Much Tingle Pack, these Zelda spin-offs likely never saw an American release due to Tingle’s unpopularity in the region (and that they’re, well, really weird). Regardless, it’s heartening to know some passionate Western fans love Tingle enough to share his adventures with the world.
