Japan loves their Splatoon, and what further evidence do you need than their Splatoon 2 sales? According to Media Create data, Splatoon 2 has sold 1,668,466 copies in Japan, which means it’s already ousold the Wii U original! Given the massive success of Nintendo’s new platform, this was inevitable given Splatoon‘s enduring popularity (that, and as reported yesterday, Switch has already surpassed Wii U’s lifetime sales in Japan). For the record, Wii U’s Splatoon sold 1,532,079 copies.
And that’s not all: according to Nintendo Soup, Nintendo Switch has also surpassed PS2’s first-year sales after selling 269,684 units this past week. This is owed to a supple restock, most notably on Amazon Japan.
