However, patches will continue.

UPDATE: There has been some confusion regarding whether or not the Nintendo blog was merely referring to no more ARMS content provided for this year. Our friends at Source Gaming have confirmed it’s referring to ARMS DLC as a whole.
Some bittersweet news, ARMS fans: it’s been confirmed the Version 5 update, which released last night alongside the Dr. Coyle character, will be the final piece of DLC released for Nintendo’s stretchy Switch fighter. Announced on Nintendo’s Japanese blog for the game, Source Gaming’s translation reads as follows:
“As for large-scale updates, this is planned to be the final one. Of course, balance patches will continue to be released.””
So while the game will be updated with balance patches and whatnot, there won’t be any more characters or ARMS provided for users. It should be noted datamines of the game hinted at unrevealed characters (with codenames such as “PLANT” and “SUMO”), so we imagine these were either scrapped or reserved for a planned sequel.
This is hardly the end of ARMS itself, however: next year’s EVO Championships in Japan will host the game, and a graphic novel is releasing next year.
