More Food, More Fun!

Those of you who have had the chance to play Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection when it released on PC last month may have noticed two characters by the name of Pokkle and Pipiro. And, if you’re anything like me, you might have wondered why they looked so gosh-darn important, despite the fact that they didn’t seem to do much in the game besides argue and eat. Well, it turns out they are important. In fact, they were the stars of their very own game, Zwei: The Arges Adventure. And, thanks to an announcement by XSEED games, it looks like we’ll be able to experience that adventure for ourselves in the near future!

Released in Japan on PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and PC, Zwei: The Argest Adventure is the first game in Nihon Falcom’s Zwei series, and direct prequel to Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection. In The Argest Adventure, players will take control of socially awkward (and argument-prone) step-siblings Pokkle and Pipiro and help them re-claim the six idols that were stolen from their village. And things only go from bad to worse when a nefarious plot to resurrect an ancient Demon Lord are uncovered.

Players will need the strength of both Pokkle and Pipiro throughout their adventure. By making use of the game’s “multi-character action” style of combat, players will be able to switch between the two step-siblings on the fly, so that they can best combat whatever threats may show up. The Zwei series’ iconic food-based EXP system also makes its return (or debut, technically), allowing players to control when and how they level up.

The upcoming PC port will be upgraded somewhat as well, and will include smoother, more intuitive gamepad support, and a “bevy of other optiizations for modern PC systems”. Additionally, this version is being touted as the most “feature-complete”, and will come with most previously PC-exclusive content (such as a Ys-themed mini-game), and the ability for players to choose between the original and PSP arranged soundtrack.

Zwei: The Arges Adventure will be making its debut sometime this Winter. Did you play Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection when it came out? Are you looking forward to playing its predecessor? Let us know in the comments below!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
