Repeat: it’s all FREE!

Beginning this Thanksgiving weekend, Splatoon 2 will be rolling out free updates that’ll include new modes, stages, gear, hair styles and gameplay options, making things fresher than ever. You can watch the new trailer showcasing these features below:
Three separate updates are planned, which’ll begin on November 23rd. Starting Thanksgiving, the level cap will be raised to 99 (which, upon reaching, can be reset to 1 with a Star emblem) and the ability to (finally!) swap gear between matches. A new Salmon Run stage (Salmonid Smokeyard) alongside new gear and hairstyles for Inklings will also be available, as well as new music tracks and amiibo functionality to snap pictures of Inklings. Why not listen to up-and-coming band Bottom Feeders below?
New stages will begin rolling out on November 24th, with Makomart rolling out first to commemorate Black Friday. Three other battlefields will gradually arrive afterwards, including a museum stage (Shellendorf Institute) alongside returning stages Walleye Warehouse and Arowana Mall.
Finally, a mid-December update will introduce a new gameplay mode: Clam Blitz, which has Inklings collecting clams and tossing them in the opposing team’s baskets. While a barrier protects these baskets, a Power Clam — obtained after collecting 10 clams — will shatter it instantly.
