Valkyria Chronicles fans, rejoice: Valkyria Chronicles 4 has been announced for PlayStation 4, Switch and Xbox One, and it’ll arrive just in time for the series’ 10th anniversary next year. A trailer containing behind-the-scenes footage can be seen below:
While the game won’t have an Xbox One release in Japan, it’s set to release first on PS4 next March 21st, then Switch the following summer. There is currently no word on the exact release details for Western territories.
The official press release reveals it takes place in the same timeframe as the first game, although with a new cast. Taking place in the year 1935 EC, players take control of protagonist Claude Wallace, who bands his childhood friends together in the Second Europan War.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 will utilize the BLitZ combat system introduced in the original, as well as the CANVAS aesthetic engine that presents the series’ trademark watercolor look. In addition, series composer Hitoshi Sakimoto is also returning.
Also announced was a DLC scenario featuring characters from the first game, including Welkin (alongside the Edelweiss tank), Alicia, Large, Rosie, and Isara. All are unlocked after completing the main game.
