Detective Pikachu Movie Starts Shooting Next January

So…is Danny DeVito playing the titular role?

Did you forget a Detective Pikachu movie was in the works? Little information has been shared since the director reveal (Rob Letterman, who was behind 2015’s Goosebumps adaption), but it’s now confirmed filming will begin next January in London. The script has been penned by Nicole Perlman (Captain Marvel) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls), and it will be a blend of live-action and CGI.

Nothing else been shared, so the adaption remains a mystery, but with filming set to begin so soon, we may see casting announcements in the near future.

In the meantime, as this is a Western adaption, does this mean we’ll finally see the 3DS Detective Pikachu game finally arrive here? Or will this serve as the Western “version” of the Detective Pikachu tale? Even if that’s the case, will Japan ever see an Episode 2, and will fans get their wish of Danny Devito starring in this adaption? Time will tell.

Do you think the Detective Pikachu movie will be any good? Let us know in the comments below!
