Sadly, it looks like the Fire Emblem Warriors DLC will probably be focusing on its three initial games (Awakening, Fates and Shadow Dragon) after all. According to a Source Gaming translation, an interview with the Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream said not to expect protagonists Ike (Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn) or Roy (The Binding Blade) making the cut for DLC; in fact, they probably won’t even be considered unless a Fire Emblem Warriors 2 happens. What a shame!
In our earlier report on the game’s DLC, we mentioned the probable likelihood of Fire Emblem Warriors eventually including heroes from other games given that Hyrule Warriors had such a long lifespan, so where did we go wrong? Well, we mustn’t forget that Hyrule Warriors Legends, that game’s 3DS counterpart, was released nearly a year after the original, and that game’s inclusion of new campaigns featuring The Wind Waker characters and Linkle sparked a whole new wave of DLC for both versions. As Hyrule Warriors Legends‘ new content was meant to draw interest from both new and veteran fans, it’s unlikely to expect the same from the Switch/3DS versions of Fire Emblem Warriors since they were announced simultaneously and feature the same content.
As many fans were disappointed Fire Emblem Warriors wouldn’t extend representation beyond those three games, this news is likely the final nail in the coffin. Regardless, as already mentioned, a Fire Emblem Warriors 2 would address these concerns, so we still recommend Fire Emblem fans to support this release if you wish to see that a reality. And hey, don’t forget Lyn and Celica are playable!
