Super Mario Odyssey’s Nintendo Direct footage shows the game has received a noticeable visual upgrade since E3
If you thought Mario and friends were looking a little bit sharper than the last time we saw them during last night’s Nintendo Direct, you’re not just seeing things. A side-by-side comparison of the two most recent builds of the game shows Super Mario Odyssey‘s visuals have received a noticeable upgrade since the game was showcased at E3 2017.
What a difference a few months makes, right? The version of Super Mario Odyssey showcased last night (bottom image) shows a pretty significant jump in the upcoming Switch platformer’s visual fidelity. Check out the improved textures for the carpet, which looks much more plush and detailed in the more recent version of the game, and the glossy gold trim on the railing at Princess Peach’s feet. Speaking of Peach, the lovely monarch of the Mushroom Kingdom is looking better than ever. Her dress looks much more plush, and her face and hair more warm and alive in comparison to the mannequin-like visage presented in the E3 build. And let’s not ignore the fresh pair of peepers on her crown, keeping with the cap-themed antics that drive the story of Super Mario Odyssey.
