WayForward and Last Dimension are getting up to some witchcraft
Originally created for Steam, magical indie adventure Mystik Belle is coming to Playstation 4 and Xbox One next month. Developed by Last Dimension and published by WayForward, the new version features a slew of new enhancements to help the bravest of witches and wizards in the fight against darkness. Smoother frame rates, a new storyline and sparkly new achievements await.
As freshman witch in the works Belle MacFae, players get to work finding the three ingredients needed to create the Walpurgisnacht Brew, the potion which can set things right in a world going very wrong. That means exploring beautiful pixel-art landscapes and fighting evil as it comes. Players will explore a huge school of magic and witchcraft, full of over 60 types of evil creatures. Fellow students at Hagmore School of Witchcraft will provide snark and commentary as needed, and likely sometimes when not. The game is touted as at least part-RPG, with a full level up system. New powers and enchanting abilities await those who can dazzle enough.
Last Dimension is still a fairly new developer. Their previous and first game, Ultionus: A Tale of Petty Revenge, was also a sidescrolling action game, in that case a shmup with an equally goofy premise. Last Dimension’s team-up strike with publisher and developer WayForward makes perfect sense. WayForward titles like Mighty Switch Force and the Shantae series show their penchant for the cartoony and utterly goofy. They’ll get along with these guys just fine.
Mystik Belle puts its spell on Playstation 4 and Xbox One in October 2017, exact date still pending. The game can already be found on Steam. A journey to magic and adventure is there for you at $14.99, which is a heck of a lot better than a train ticket for platform 9 3/4.
