Tecmo Koei has revealed a fair amount of information regarding their upcoming JRPG Blue Reflection, to help players familiarize themselves with the game’s mechanics before diving into the game later this month.

In Blue Reflection, players will guide Hinkao, Yuzu, and Lime, as they transform into their magical Reflector forms, and jump into an evil-filled area known as The Common. Once there, it will be up to players to traverse The Commons, solve puzzles, and defeat the demons living within. In combat, players will have a number of attacks at their disposal, all of which will help them defeat the demons. These special attacks, although powerful, will drain the heroines their of Ether. In order to regain their lost Ether, players will need to perform Ether Charges. Ether Charges not only allows characters regain their lost Ether, but helps them perform more powerful attacks as well.

The Overdrive ability, once unlocked, will also give players an edge in combat. When performed, Overdrives allow players to use several skills consecutively, but drains their characters of magical energy. Overdrives can be a great asset, but must be used strategically in order to gain the most use from them.

Demons aren’t the only things lurking within The Common, either. Players will also have to keep an eye out for Sephira; gigantic creatures whose power is so great that they threaten the existence of the entire world. In order to successfully defeat these creatures, up to four allies can be chosen to support each Reflector. These allies will prove to be a vital asset in battle, and will assist with extra attacks, healing, buff, and sometimes even battle advice!

Blue Relfection is slated for release in North America 26 on PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. Additionally, those who pre-order Blue Reflection, as well as those who pre-order both Blue Reflection and Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon will receive a number of pre-order bonuses, including outfits, and new themes for the in-game social networking app “FreeSpace!” Is this game on your JRPG radar? Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection.
