Watch every speck of Hellblade’s grime and gore in gritty detail.
The official trailer for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice describes the heroine’s brutal journey to lay the soul of her loved one to rest. Senua carries his disembodied skull in a wrapped bandage, a grim reminder of her loss and struggle. The trailer is all captured with in-game footage, says developer Ninja Theory, the studio behind Heavenly Sword and DmC: Devil May Cry. You can check out a handful of staggering screenshots from Hellblade’s Photo Mode here.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be visually enhanced for the PlayStation 4 Pro, giving players a choice between a higher screen resolution or 60 FPS. Anyone picking up Hellblade for a high-end desktop can have their cake and eat it, too—the PC version of the game allows for resolutions up to 4K and an uncapped framerate.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will release on August 8th as a digital exclusive for PS4 and PC. Ninja Theory says the game will be half the size of a major release but will also be half the price, coming out to $29.99. Their team of twenty people aim to “bring back the mid-sized game,” says Dominic Matthews, Ninja Theory’s ‘Product Development Ninja’.
