New Breath of the Wild Glitch Lets Players Bypass the Sheikah Slate

Guidance is overrated, anyway

Breath of the Wild Sheikah Slate

Glitches in games are usually a great source of frustration, but occasionally one comes along that can be quite beneficial. The newly discovered bug in Breath of the Wild is not one of those. But if you’re in the mood to crank up the difficulty up past what even what the DLC can offer, then look no further than the “Sheikah Slate Skip” glitch.

As the name may imply, this glitch allows players to pass up getting the Sheikah Slate entirely. Getting this to work requires a bit of legwork on the player’s part. You’ll need to start a new game, and save in the Shrine of Resurrection. You’ll then need to load up an old save file, stand on a ledge, press “A” to drop drop down, pause the game as you’re doing so, and load your new save file. If you’ve done it correctly, you’ll find that Link has fallen partially through the ground, causing the game to re-spawn you somewhere in the world below. For a closer look at how it’s done, check out the YouTube video posted by user Nintendo3DSChannel.

While you won’t have access to most of the Sheikah Slate’s functions, you will still be able to activate Shrines. Have you tested this unique new glitch out yourself? Let us know in the comments below!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
