Developer Another Indie has announced that their sci-fi action adventure title Original Journey will be making its console debut early next year.

Original Journey sends players to the dangerous Planet Shadow, where they will embark on a quest to find the Origin Stone — a fabled artifact of unlimited power — so that they can save their home planet. Gameplay includes a mixture of shooting, platforming, tower-defense, racing, and puzzle-solving, and it will be up to players to use their wit and skill to survive in this procedurally generated world.

Players will take assume the roll of The Rookie during this adventure, and will be given a customizable mech to control. Players will be able to upgrade the mech armor with various buffs, affecting speed, life recovery, fall damage, and more. Over a dozen upgradable weapons will be available too, each suited for different playstyles and enemies.

“Original Journey demands skill to vanquish the creatures of Planet Shadow and offers an arsenal of weapons so players can find their favorites, but the story asks some hard questions,” says Another Indie Director of Developer Relations Iain Garner. “Original Journey will take players on an action-packed journey as they explore the limits of their own mortality.”

Original Journey is slated for release on PC via Steam on August 16, and will be coming to the Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in Q1 2018. Are you looking forward to embarking on this journey yourself? Let us know in the comments below!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
