PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Sells 4 Million Copies

That’s quite a bit of money for an unknown player

Developer Bluehole Studio Inc. has announced that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, their massively popular online battle royale shooter, has officially sold 4 million copies — making $100 million in revenue in the process.

Bluehole has noted that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has also recently peaked at 230,000 simultaneous users on Steam, with over 100,000 sessions being played per day. The game has seen much success on Twitch as well, peaking at over 350,000 simultaneous viewers. Around 15% of all Twitch users, or a little over 120,000 people, watch the game being played every single day.

“I genuinely appreciate all the love and support the fans have shown to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” said Bluehold Vice President and Executive Producer Chang Han Kim. “Our team is working passionately to deliver a stable gameplay experience as we prepare for our full launch later this year.”

Last week during E3, Bluehole announced that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be officially be launching on Xbox One later this year. The final version is slated to launch sometime in the earlier part of 2018.
