A new Yoshi game is on its way!
Nintendo has confirmed during their E3 Spotlight Showcase that a new Yoshi game is on its way.
Currently known only as “Yoshi”, this new Switch title appears to play similarly to its previous installments. Much of the featured gameplay included traditional 2.5D platforming, and many of Yoshi’s iconic moves — including egg laying and throwing, the ground pound, and the flutter kick — were shown as well. It has also been confirmed that at least two Yoshis are able to cooperate together to solve puzzles, indicating possible co-op play.
This upcoming title also has its share of new features. The trailer showcased the ability to interact with elements in both the foreground in the background by throwing eggs at things, it appears that players will be able to literally flip levels, allowing for new vantage points and access to new areas.
In contrast to Wooly World, this game seems to have a cardboard motif, similar to elements in later installments of the Paper Mario franchise. Since Wooly World did a nice job with its yarn mechanics, it will be interesting to see how things go this time around.
“Yoshi” will be coming out sometime next year. Are you looking forward to diving into this adventure for yourself? Do you like the new cardboard motif? What kinds of features do you hope to see in this game? Let us know in the comments below!
