Crytek plans to showcase fresh gameplay footage of their eerie horror shooter Hunt: Showdown at E3 next month
With the industry’s biggest event right around the corner, Frankfurt, Germany-based developer Crytek is planning to showcase its next big release. The studio announced today that they’ll be showcasing gameplay from their upcoming multiplayer shooter, Hunt: Showdown, behind closed doors during E3 2017, which will runs from June 12-15 in Los Angeles, California.
For those who haven’t been following the title, Hunt: Showdown is based on the previously announced title Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age. However, Crytek’s vision for Hunt: Showdown has taken the original concept in a different, and decidedly much darker direction than what was envisioned by the original team.
How dark, you ask? Well, you can see what I mean in the latest teaser for the game, which was released earlier this month. Check it out below:
Once one of the biggest names in PC gaming, Crytek has been weathering some hard times in recent years. The developer and creator of the powerful CryEngine, who first rose to prominence with the wildly successful Crysis, has been described as a studio in disarray. Late last year, employees complained about unpaid wages. And, more recently, they company sold off Crytek Black Sea studio in Bulgaria to Sega and their Creative Assembly division.
Having said that, here’s hoping Hunt: Showdown is able to right the ship for Crytek. In any case, we can’t wait to find out at E3 in just a few short weeks.
