A far cry from being over.
Ubisoft has officially announced the latest entry in their Far Cry series. A logo for Far Cry 5 was posted on Ubisoft UK’s Twitter account, with the message “Are you ready for a hefty dose of new Far Cry adventures?” The reveal came just before the company’s earnings call, which also confirmed that it will be out during the current fiscal year, set to end in March of 2018.
The fact that this is listed as the 5th in the series indicates that it’ll eschew the experimentation of Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and return to the more traditional open-world gameplay the series is known for.
Sadly, Ubisoft hasn’t disclosed any other details; who will star in this game? Where will it be set? What’s the story? However, they did promise to release more information “very soon”, suggesting that the game will likely be showcased at E3.
In September of 2016, the company confirmed that a new Far Cry was in development but made no promises for a 2017 release.
