Welcome back to WWII.
We’re going back to World War 2 in the oh so very uniquely titled Call of Duty: WWII. A trailer has been released today showing a small taste of what to expect in the next entry of the long-running FPS franchise.
As of recent years the franchise has drifted farther and farther from its original World War 2 roots, opting for more futuristic settings and ideas. The series has come full circle and we’re going back to Normandy and shooting Nazis in this new entry.
The trailer has shown us many things, emphasizing in the beginning that what we are seeing is, “Actual In-Game Footage.” This is a very interesting statement considering what was revealed seemed to be more scripted events than anything. What was predominantly shown was what looked to be the single-player campaign, catching glimpses here and there of the characters and set pieces you will encounter as you play. It seems that the focus of this campaign will mostly be on the European theater of the war, which has been explored heavily in other games of the franchise. The game looks as polished as ever but there is a lack of anything surprising when playing in a setting as heavily explored as World War 2.
The game is set for a November 3 release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Those who pre-order it will receive exclusive access to the upcoming Beta so they can get in on the action a bit early.
So, what are you thoughts on the trailer? Are you looking forward to going back to the roots of the franchise? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
