NIS Releases New Birthdays The Beginning Screenshots, Talks Gameplay

Pictures, Challenge Mode, and more!

The arrival of Birthdays The Beginning is quickly approaching, but there’s still a bit more time before it gets here. So, to make the wait a bit easier, NIS America has released a nice collection of screenshots, along with new information on its upcoming sandbox title.

One feature that players can expect to find in Birthdays is the “Challenge Mode”. In Challenge Mode, players are given a set amount of time (in years), and a special task to complete within that time frame. Challenges can include anything from creating, to capturing scary creatures like the tyrannosaurus rex.

Much of Birthdays is about world-building, so you can expect to find plenty of world-altering items. Players can adjust things like topography, temperature, and moisture, but should also keep an eye out for more interesting items. The Glass Jar, for example, will allow players to store an organism’s genetic information, and decide when and where to bring the creature back to life. Interested in seeing how a creature would survive in a different environment? The Glass Jar is just the thing you’re looking for.

Birthdays The Beginning is set to release on the PlayStation 4 on May 9 in North America and May 12 in Europe, and on PC via Steam on May 9. Will you be celebrating this Birthday for yourself? Let us know in the comments below! And, while you’re at it, feel free to check out some of the screenshots below as well.

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side,Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
