New Resident Evil 4 Parody is an “Otome” Dating Game

What the what?

Resident Evil? Dating? These two terms should not intermingle at any point, and yet somehow Resident Evil 4: Otome Edition is already winning the hearts of fans. A fangame parody, this dating sim stars Ashley Graham, the original game’s damsel-in-distress, and features her narration of the game’s events with a romantic twist.

Recognizing her useless status as a whiny liability in Resident Evil 4, the parody’s creators have Ashley humorously chronicle the game’s events, from her kidnapping to dodging zombies and breaking out of windows with original protagonist Leon Kennedy? However, as Otome games typically are, it emphasizes a more important question: who will she fall for? Will it be handsome dreamboat Leon Kennedy? The mysterious Merchant? Or even the nefarious, super ugly Lord Saddler?

Well, according to the game’s site, “you can’t actually do any of this, but Ashley doesn’t know that.” True to its tongue-in-cheek nature, the fangame prides itself on making “fake decisions that reveal the illusory nature of choice.” Is that actually true? Well, there’s only one way to find out…

Resident Evil 4: Otome Edition is available for download in the link above. Obviously, it’s free, but financial contribution is accepted.

Are you a Resident Evil fan that wants to give this out-there parody a shot, or do you think it’s a disgrace to the very core of the horror series? Let us know in the comments below!
