New trailer bumps up total roster so far to 23
The recent onslaught of character announcements for Injustice 2 is continuing to get fans pumped for its impending release, and still somewhat fresh off the heels of the last trailer is the official confirmation of a new character – Dr. Fate.
A mighty sorcerer with all manner of strange and fantastical forms of magic at his command, Fate fills in a notable void within the roster with his unique abilities that can stand up to even the likes of Superman. In fact, the majority of his trailer (which you can check out at the bottom of this article) is him kicking the Man of Steel all over the place. While we don’t have much in the way of in-depth details, it’s clear he’ll be quite a tricky opponent, capable of teleporting, firing projectiles that can even hover in place, elemental magic and can still deliver a mean punch or kick to the face. He is NOT a squishy wizard.
While his announcement is exciting, it’s not unexpected. Dr. Fate’s inclusion has been rumoured since as early as June last year. Only a couple of days after the game’s official announcement, an Injustice 2 t-shirt that was being given away as a tournament prize showed a number of DC heroes’ logos, including Fate’s very own helmet.
As it currently stands, the roster is still smaller than the first game’s initial roster, which means we’ve probably still got several characters yet to see (we haven’t even seen a playable Brainiac or Darkseid yet). And with only a couple more months until release, there’s the possibility that we’re going to see a rather large handful of newcomers and veterans alike show up.
Injustice 2 is out on May 16th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. A mobile version of the game is currently already out to download and play.
