Two years overdue, but better late than never!
When Super Mario was celebrating his 30th anniversary back in 2015, a Japan-only encyclopedia was released to celebrate his long-lasting franchise. Titled Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary Encyclopedia, this 256-page tome detailed 17 different games in the series as well as numerous concept art and interviews with Mario staff. While the anniversary’s long since passed, clues have been popping up that this mighty encyclopedia is finally heading to Western shores!
Various Western chains for have the book listed for pre-order, such as Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, and Amazon France. Amazon US and Amazon Canada do not have it available for pre-order, but the listing still exists. All chains confirm it’s slated for a June 15 release.
Like Hyrule Historia and the upcoming Arts and Artifacts encyclopedias for The Legend of Zelda, the Super Mario 30th Anniversary Encyclopedia is a wonderful trove of information that no Mario can go without, as it features timelines of all of Mario and gang’s appearances, a listing of every enemy and foe he’s come across in the mainline Mario games, and interviews with the likes of Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka.
