Akiba’s Beat Special Edition is a Subwoofer Full of Stuff

…Not literally, of course. Akiba’s Beat don’t play so simple.

akiba's beat

Akiba’s Beat is promising to be a standout action RPG in the first half of 2017. Coming out this Spring, the stylish follow-up to 2013’s Akiba’s TripAkiba’s Beat sets itself in a geographically-accurate but intensely vibrant and stylized rendition of the Akihabara district of Tokyo (for another example, think along the general lines of what The World Ends with You did with Shibuya). Shadowy forces wind their way into the city, and social recluse Asahi Tachibana finds himself leading a group of unlikely “chosen” characters into combat with the horrific manifestations which appear to be trying to make the city their new home.

Currently exclusive to GAME stores across Europe, a special art-infused edition of upcoming action RPG Akiba’s Beat has been announced accompanying the game’s release this year. This limited edition includes a special art book full of concept art and other visual treats directly for the game. A special collector’s box will also be included. Akiba’s Beat is coming out on both Playstation 4 and PS Vita systems, and both versions can be pre-ordered in limited edition form now.

Akiba’s Beat boasts a visual style that mashes Persona, Hyperdiension Neptunia, and other known JRPG series into a cohesive brew. Focuses lie on action-RPG combat, giving players plenty to juggle in their heads during real-time combat. Party management and balance is also key, as each colorful character brings something new to to the table, but none is always perfect for every single situation. The game hits Playstation 4 and PS Vita systems in Spring 2017, in the US and Europe. The collector’s edition is currently only confirmed for a UK release, but fans should keep one ear in their headphones and another on the net, as more info may come out yet.
