Resident Evil 7’s difficulty will be “a little higher than previous titles”; tension and fear to be game’s major focus.
If Resident Evil 7’s lead game designer Hajime Horiuchi is to be believed, the upcoming entry in Capcom’s long-running survival horror series will be the most challenging one yet.
Power Up Gaming UK reports that in an interview featured in the January issue of Official Xbox Magazine, he said: “The difficulty being a little higher than in previous titles is definitely intentional.
Horiuchi continued,“We wanted to focus more on the aspect of fear. We worried that if the game’s too easy and these enemy encounters aren’t too big of a deal then players aren’t going to feel that tension, not going to feel that anxiety. We wanted to make sure that even if you’re pitted up in a one versus one situation, that one enemy is capable of killing you.”
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard launches on January 24 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will also be fully playable with the PlayStation VR headset.
