6. Xmas Lemmings
There was a time when Lemmings was one of the hottest franchises around, and it’s still a blast to play more than two decades later. Despite the disturbing concept of innocent creatures being killed due to their stupidity, the games had a goofy and light-hearted tone that lent themselves well to Christmas re-imaginings. Such was the case with Xmas Lemmings, released as a series of promotional demos in the early 1990s. These festive entries featured new levels, renditions of popular holiday songs, and naturally snow-covered scenery with red-clad lemmings. It was a must-have for Lemmings fans, and remains so to this day.
5. Duke Nukem 3D: Nuclear Winter
Though it was the most poorly-received of all the authorized expansion packs, Nuclear Winter nonetheless remains a fun little romp that gives Duke Nukem 3D a Christmas makeover. Besides new and remixed levels, players can expect to battle wicked snowmen and murderous female elves in a variety of snow-covered locales. This is all topped off with a final showdown with the brainwashed Saint Nick himself, who is surprisingly tough for a jolly old elf. Sadly, it’s tough to obtain as it was last featured on Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition, which has since been pulled from retail. Keep your eyes on eBay if you’re keen on scoring yourself a boxed copy.
