French Publisher DotEmu has unveiled remakes of two classic games during this year’s PlayStation Experience.

A remake of the RPG classic Ys Origin is scheduled for release on February 21, 2017, on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Originally released back in 2006 on PC, Ys Origin served as a prequel to the Ys series. The events of Ys Origin took place 700 years before the Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished, the first title in the Ys series.

The remake of Ys Origin promises to include several bonus features while still aiming to stay true to the original version of the game. Language support for Japanese, English, and, for the first time ever, French, Italian, German, and Spanish have been confirmed as well.

DotEmu has also confirmed the upcoming remake of Windjammers. Originally released in the arcade and on Neo Geo, Windjammers is a fast-paced arcade game that will have players facing off against one another on the court as they throw discs at their opponent’s goal zone in order to score the most points and claim victory.

The Windjammers remake will include five different game modes, an all-new online versus mode, and trophies and player leaderboards. Players will also be able to choose from one of several characters, each boasting their own unique stats. Windjammers is set to release sometime in Q1 of 2017 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. No official release date has been confirmed.

Stay tuned for more Ys Origin and Windjammers news as it is announced!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
