Game-Matching Announced for Mac App Store

Feral Interactive announce game-matching service Calico

CalicoPublisher Feral Interactive announced Calico today, a game-matching service for games purchased through the Mac App Store.

The service is intended for those who chose to purchase their games through the App Store rather than sites such as Game Republic or distributors like Steam. Many Games purchased through Apple have often had their multiplayer features severely hindered due to lack of a searchable server hosting matches.

Calico will be built into all of Feral’s games that feature multiplayer aspects. The service will also have the typical bells and whistles of other platforms such as friends lists, chats, achievements, and leaderboards. More feature are planned to be added in the future.

“We are delighted to officially reveal Calico,” said David Stephen, Managing Director at Feral Interactive in a recent press release. “It is high time that gamers who prefer to buy their games through the Mac App Store had the opportunity to fully enjoy the multiplayer elements of their games. Calico is designed to help them do just that.”

Games already included in this new service and available on the Mac App Store are Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Company of Heroes 2, XCOM 2, Medieval II: Total War and Grid Autosport.
