CD Projekt Red have said that they don’t have any plans to upgrade The Witcher 3 to 4K for PlayStation Pro.
While most gamers wouldn’t expect every game already released for PlayStation 4 to be patched or upgraded to 4K in the lead up to PlayStation 4 Pro’s release, it mightn’t be a stretch to assume that a lot of the bigger games from the past one or two years to be upgraded. However, The Witcher 3 won’t be one of those games.
According to CD Projekt Red, the developers are just too busy with other games in order to give The Witcher 3 the attention it’d need in order to upgrade it to 4K. Speaking to Eurogamer, CD Projekt Red said:
“Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro.”
While the game won’t be 4K on any console, it is worth noting that it is currently available as 4K on PC, though it seems like CD Projekt Red don’t have any plans to release the game as 4K on any consoles even after they’ve finished with Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent. The news comes not long after the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition, which was released late last month. The game of the year edition was announced not too long before it was released, and includes the critically acclaimed base game, along with both pieces of story DLC– Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine — and every piece of downloadable content, as well as every update and improvement ever released.
