Henshin Engine to bring nostalgic sidescrolling action to PC Engine & Steam next year, Kickstarter now live
If you’ve been looking for a reason to fire up your old PC Engine or Turbo CD, you’re in luck. Henshin Engine: The Game has made its way to Kickstarter with the goal of bringing the pink-haired starlet of the web comic, inspired by the glory days of 16-bit gaming, to NEC’s classic console.
Henshin Engine : The Game is being developed by comic creator Sarumaru and a team of four other developers, and is inspired by the likes of such memorable side-scrolling classics as Ninja Gaiden, Valid, and Mega Man.
The PC Engine CD-Rom and Steam release of the game currently has a set release date of March 28th, 2017 and is being programmed from the ground up for real classic video game systems, ensuring the game will deliver an authentically retro experience whether you’re playing it on your PC Engine or computer.
The Kickstarter just went live, and has already raised over $3,000 of the project’s $16,400 funding goal. As of right now there are numerous pledge tiers, with the minimum contribution netting you a digital wallpaper, while doling out $1,100 or more will get you a physical copy of the game along with your very own PC Engine system emblazoned with art from the game and comic’s creator.
