Hop on the Virtual Stage with Hatsune Miku this Fall
The world’s most popular virtual idol has had a great deal of exposure in the west as of late. Sega’s Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F and F 2nd were both received very well by fans (myself included) and critics alike, and the adorable green haired idol is set to have a new title, Project Diva X, release on the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita on August 30th.
In a press release sent out by Sega at Gamescom today, players who also partake in Sony’s upcoming Virtual Reality headset will also have the opportunity to jam with Hatsune Miku in an exclusive VR experience. In their press release Sega had the following to say about the upcoming VR experience:
“Exclusive to PlayStation VR, the Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live bridges the gap between the physical world we live in and the digital world of Hatsune Miku in a completely immersive way. Leave the living room behind (figuratively speaking), as it transports players to a virtual stadium, fully immersing them in the crowd of Miku fans and going wild for the digital singer. As the lights dim and Miku gets ready to take the stage, the player’s controller transforms into a glow stick. When the show begins, players can keep time with the song by taking cues from the rest of the crowd waving their glow sticks, with the goal of cheering on Miku during the concert. As players encourage her, it builds up the voltage. Once the voltage reaches its climax, players will find themselves transported on stage for a special one-on-one encore performance with Miku!”
For those attending Gamescom, a demo is available to try out the experience for yourself. For everyone else that is unable to attend, the VR Future Live experience will be available to download on Sony’s Playstation Network in both the Americas and Europe on October 14th. This VR experience is a standalone app that is completely different from the free VR patch that will be offered with Project Diva X when it releases, so fans and newcomers alike will definitely want to check this experience out as soon as it’s available! The app has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB and pricing is currently to be decided.
