First-Person Shooter fans have been eagerly honing their trigger fingers ever since the announcement of Battlefield 1. Even now its October release still feels like a long way off. Thankfully EA and Dice have announced that the game’s Open Beta will be arriving on August 31, making the wait a little less arduous.

PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 owners who have sign up as Battlefield Insiders through the game’s official webpage by August 21 will be eligible to receive early access to the beta. We also have details on the game modes and maps. The beta will incorporate two classic modes when the preview hits: Conquest and Rush. For those unfamiliar, Conquest sees two teams attempting to capture specific points on a map, while in Rush one team is on the attack and the other is on defense.

The playable map will take place in the Sinai Desert, and can encompass up to 64 people in an online match at one time. This location will also include a new controllable armored train, horses, which can be ridden, and fresh classes: Sentry, Flame Trooper, and the Tank Hunter.

These additions not only sound exciting, but it will also be interesting to see how the contrasting in-game weapons and vehicles will play out against one another. If you are on horseback and gallop by a tank, will you be easily obliterated? Or will there be a way for you counter the heavy machine? If you can’t wait until August 31 to find out, there will be a livestream showcasing gameplay on August 16, at 8pm BST on Battlefield’s official Twitch page.
