Head of Xbox confirms it’s alive
Anybody remember when Microsoft was all about TV? Remember when they bragged about how the Xbox One could let you watch TV as opposed to… normal TVs? If you don’t, chances are you just forgot (it was back in 2013) or you blocked it from your memory. Well, in conjunction with all that TV talk, Microsoft also promised to bring us a TV series set in the universe of popular sci-fi FPS series Halo. They even bragged about how it would be produced by Steven Spielberg of E.T. and Indiana Jones fame.
So what’s happened to it exactly? As far as we know… nothing. We’ve not heard anything about the project since its announcement three years ago, leading many to believe that it’s been quietly cancelled or something. However, believe it or not, that’s actually not the case.
IGN’s Editor of Previews, Ryan McCaffrey, recently tweeted the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, asking “What’s going on with the Halo TV series Phil? Is it dead?” While Mr. Spencer’s response wasn’t exactly detailed, the answer he gave very much summed it up – “Alive.”

While there’s technically nothing concrete, it’s still possible that Microsoft is hard at work on the project. And, to be fair, the series wasn’t scheduled to air until late last year. And since nobody noticed, it’s arguable that you can’t really get angry with a delay like this. That being said, the lack of any info doesn’t bode well and Mr. Spencer’s one word statement could be an attempt at smoke and mirrors. Unless some formal announcement is made, the Halo TV series is very much still trapped in limbo for the time being.
