#15- Freedom Wars

Freedom Wars is one of those games that is genuinely good but not very well known to those outside of the Vita family; yet it’s a game that deserves more attention. Freedom Wars is a Monster Hunter-esque game set in a dystopian future where you play as a prisoner with a 100 million year life sentence for the crime of simply being born, and your only hope of freedom is to work off your life sentence by fighting giant robots and other criminals from rival cities. It’s a very unique setting that isn’t just there for show. You truly feel like a prisoner right from the start with many restrictions such as not being allowed to run, sleep, or even save the game; but slowly you work your way up as you chip away years from your life sentence and gain more freedoms. This is a very rewarding and unique progression system that I’ve never seen any other game do. The gameplay itself works well on the handheld system and the missions provide a gradually increasing challenge level while still being enjoyable to play. Freedom Wars is a game that stands out amongst other games on the platform and brings something engaging and unique to the table.
