5 Mario Fan Games That You Totally Need To Play

Super Mario Brothers Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey

The very first Super Mario Bros. game has been re-released countless times, and in each case there’s usually some tweak or enhancement to the original experience. However, for the most part, Nintendo stays quite true to their intended vision. Super Mario Brothers Odyssey takes a different approach, setting itself as a re-imagining of the 8-bit epic we all know and love.

It’s definitely the original game, but with longer and more complex levels, additional moves, better sprites and tilesets, and even a wealth of cutscenes that make the whole affair feel far more story-driven. There are also a number of unlockables, adding even more replay value. It almost feels like the sort of remake you’d expect to appear on Steam. And even more Odyssey releases are planned for the future.
