Preregistration Is Open For Mobius Final Fantasy

Available on iPhone, iPad, And Android Devices Next Month

Crafted specifically for mobile platforms, Mobius Final Fantasy promises a full, uncompromised Final Fantasy experience. Players will receive a brand new RPG adventure, complete with character customization, boundary pushing graphics, and ongoing live events.

Mobius Final Fantasy tells the standard tale of an amnesiac protagonist who wakes up in a world he doesn’t remember. From there he is tasked with unraveling a mysterious prophecy and bringing hope to the world. You know, the usual.

The app will be free-to-play with optional in-app purchases. It has already been widely acclaimed in Japan, receiving the App Store’s “Best of 2015” Award. The game will launch for the rest of us on August 3rd. Optionally, you can preregister at the Mobius website.

By preregistering you’ll receive Final Fantasy X themed items, like Tidus’s weapon, Brotherhood, and a Yuna character card. The cards will be used in a playable in-app version of Triple Triad from Final Fantasy VIII. If you really want to stay up on all things Square Enix, you can also download the Final Fantasy Portal App. This grants you access to exclusive promotional trailers and developer commentary right from the source. Logging into the portal app with a Square Enix account will allow you to accumulate points that can be exchanged for items.

I’m not particularly into mobile gaming, but since it’s Square Enix the graphics are guaranteed to be lovely. The story feels a bit “meh,” but follows the usual JRPG formula so I can’t fault it there. Let me know in the comments if you’re looking forward to taking the Final Fantasy experience with you, or if, like me, you’re just going to wait for a full release on PC or consoles.
