Daydreamer: Awakened Edition Canceled on Xbox One

It’s not just a bad dream

DayDreamer Awakened 2

So I have some bad news and some good news.

Let’s start off with the bad news. Daydreamer: Awakened Edition was originally heading to both Xbox One and PS4. However, a press release stated today that this visually striking title will no longer be coming to Microsoft’s console. While Xbox One fans face some sad commiserations, Sony players looking forward to the game can take a sigh of relief and rejoice. Daydreamer: Awakened Edition is still heading to the PlayStation 4, and now has an official release date: July 12. That’s right, the game’s just two more days away. It was also announced today that there will be a 20% discount on the game one week following its scheduled launch.

Daydreamer is a side scrolling, action-packed and rather frantic platformer/shoot-em-up game developed by Roland Studios and published by Atlus. First released on the PC back in August 2015, the story follows the planet’s last remaining human as she awakens from an eternal sleep, proving that her sleep really was not that eternal. After opening her eyes to discover that the world is now overrun with aliens, robots, and giant bugs, our mysterious female protagonist goes all Duke Nukem on their behinds and sets out on a killing spree that leads her all the way to the earth’s core. Despite containing some mild horror elements, players will fight gigantic white rabbits that shoot laser beams from their eyes, offsetting any scares. Additionally, cute pets such as cats, turtles, and more will accompany you through the strange stages and fight all the weird and wonderfully creatures found therein. The Awakened Edition includes new gameplay tweaks, updates, and refinements.

Daydreamer: Awakened Edition will be available digitally from the PlayStation Store and is slated to have a list price of $9.99. The game is rated T for teen.
